The catholic parish church of St. Joseph was rebuilt in 1962/1963 in the Fürther Straße, north to the railway station. It is interesting, above all, from an architectural point of view. The artistic arrangement of its rooms with mosaics and glass paintings by the artist Herbert Bessel from Nuremberg are very impressive.

Until the middle of the 1990s, the Kneipp Allee was the road linking Zirndorf and its suburb Weiherhof. Its stock of oaks, which are about 130 years old, are a natural monument. The “avenue” invites people to go for a walk, go jogging, ride their bicycles or just play.

Former synagogue

Ehemalige Synagoge in Zirndorf

In 1685, the margrave of Ansbach, Johann Friedrich, gave his permission to the Jewish community to build a synagogue in Zirndorf. It was built out of sandstones in the Kleinstraße. During the rule of the National Socialists, more and more Jews left the town. The rest of the community sold the building to the town in 1942. Today none of those Jewish families live in Zirndorf any more. The former synagogue is merely a residential building today.

Zimmermannspark

Quetschenmännle im Zimmermannspark Zirndorf

The spacious Zimmermannspark offers a lot of nature in the very heart of the town. Take a deep breath under shady trees surrounded by beautifully arranged flowerbeds. Boule players can prove their talent and precision on the boule alley.
In the summer, several events take place, such as wine festivals or our atmospheric “Klassik Open Air” (an open air event with classical music). Since 2010, couples can get married in the park.

Brewery of Zirndorf

Brauerei Zirndorf

The historical brewery area and St. Rochus Church, which is situated right next to it, form a couple worth watching. The brewery of Zirndorf was founded in 1674 by margrave Johann Friedrich of Ansbach. The brewing room and other buildings were erected in the middle of the 18th century. After a turbulent history, the brewery now belongs to the Tucher corporation. The restaurant, which is situated on the brewery's area has a comfortable beer garden and a lovely interior: it is definitely worth a visit.

Small castle and forge

Schlösschen in Zirndorf

The small castle in the Rote Straße is one of the most splendid half-timbered buildings in the older part of Zirndorf. The long drip-stone house used to be an accommodation of the margrave of Ansbach and is decorated with splendid half-timbered elements.
The forge of Zirndorf is situated right next to the small castle. It was first mentioned in 1306 and is thus one of the oldest buildings in Zirndorf. The forged was closed only in 1974.

Ways of life

For more than twenty years now, private people have planted trees on the area of Zirndorf (e.g. the Kneipp Allee, Schwabacher Straße, Paul Metz Halle, Im Stillen Winkel Zirndorf – Weiherhof etc.) in order to mark special family events or to remind of beloved people. Thus “ways” and even “gardens of life” have been created over the years by the plantation more than 500 trees.

Preßleinshaus

Preßleinshaus in der Hauptstraße Zirndorf

The Preßleinshaus in the Hauptstraße was built around 1700. It is a magnificent sandstone-building due to its saddle-roof and its splendid half-timbered elements, which decorate the upper floors. For a very long time, its purpose was to accommodate tax deputies of Nuremberg.
Along the road, one can still see that the basement windows are covered by worn out stones of the time, when the house was built. A wonderful old well is situated next to the building.

Historic bathhouse

"Historisches Badehaus" Zirndorf

This magnificent half-timbered house with its hipped-roof has two floors and can be found on the Rathausplatz. According to historical records, the medieval bathhouse was situated on its place. The building of today was erected around 1700; you will find the restaurant “Kleiner Grieche” in it.
